LR 11

This is a picture of me with my brand new bike. My husband has ridden most all his life. We bought his 2001 HD and I so enjoyed riding with him. I
came across a really good deal on a 2001 HD 883 hugger. I jumped at it! I
had never driven a motorcycle (always a passenger) when I bought my first
bike in 2002. My husband had to drive it home for me as I did not know how to drive it. We took it home and I did practice riding it out in Lincoln. I
immediately signed up for the ABATE safety class that summer.
..........................................................

My son and I took it together - let's just say he rode circles around me. It was great!
I was off and riding after that. What a trip. My husband was very nervous with me on my new bike. I repeated the ABATE class the next summer and felt some much more comfortable on my bike. We took a few trips to Sturgis and Deadwood and several short trips here and there. I rode my Hugger for 5 years and then upgraded to my 2006 Heritage Softail. I couldn't believe what a difference the big bike made. I absolutely love it.

My first bike was a Honda XL100.  My brother and I received the bike from Santa Claus. I believe I was in the 7th or 8th grade.  I couldn't figure out how Santa got the bike in the living room, but I know I was totally excited.

I rode that bike to school through high school.
I learned  to rid from my father saying,  "here is the brake, here is the clutch, here is the gas and have fun. "   I didn't hurt myself too bad.

I do have scars to show my stupidity though. (Like, how fun  it was to wear shorts when you are riding through the dirt).

Well, here I am later in life, riding again.  Got smart, went through the ABATE safety course and learned how to ride all over again.   Does this bike look familiar?  Well, it should.

You might have seen it right here on this website.

She is a bike owner too, but  this time around this was really the bike from $%##.

By this picture,  can you recognize who I am?   Are you wondering what the cute outfit is about?  If you were at Menoken about 12 years ago, you might remember the goofy girl running around.   That was me - done all in good fun!!

Ok...I dont have any old pictures of me on my first bike..because that is going way back...I think it was a 1972 350 Honda...but that was back in 1984ish...Before that I owned several dirt bikes..just racing through the streets of NY...

these (attached) are some older pictures -

the one in Japan is the same bike I ride today...with just a few changes, I bought it new back in 1994.

I don't have a picture of me with my first motorcycle.  It was a 305 Kawasaki
belt drive.  I don't remember the year.  I learned on that bike and used it to take my test, but, before I took the test to get my motorcycle license, I purchased a new 1998 883 H-D Sportster Hugger (the bike I'm on in the picture taken at the Lady's Run at Wahpeton in 2001.)

I took the ABATE Motorcycle Safety Course the summer of 1997 and started riding by myself or with my husband, but wasn't confident enough to ride with a group.  The incentive to get my license was that new Sportster in my garage.   I bought the bike the fall of 1997 and had all winter to admire it.  I was in the garage all the time, either sitting on it or just looking at it and admiring it.  Couldn't believe I had a Harley-Davidson.

I got my license in August of 1998, after returning from Sturgis.  I rode the Sportster down there knowing that my permit would expire while there, but the ride gave me so much more confidence.
My husband was after me for years to start riding my own bike, but it wasn't 'till I started wanting it for myself, that I learned.  He believed in my ability long before I ever did, though, and I give him a lot of credit for that.  :)

My first bike was a 1987 Yamaha Virago.  My ex-husband taught me how to ride his 1972 Shovelhead about 15 years ago. He used to go out and kick start it for me cause I could never get it kicked over, then one day he said, 'If you want to ride, you start it yourself.' It took me about 20 minutes to get it kicked over, and when I got it started I was so excited I killed it.  I got divorced 7 years ago, and dated another biker for a few years. We broke up, and I figured I could either wait around for another guy to ride behind, be my own 'bitch' on my own bike. So I did!

My bike is a 2002 750 Honda Shadow A.C.E. Deluxe. The bike
colors really stand out in the Ladies Run photo.
Anyway, it's my first and only bike so far. Gotta win
that lottery.

previously have gone on Ladies Runs but I don't live in ND anymore - if I do move back you can be guaranteed I'll be there with all the other women!

This is about a month after I got the bike, October of 2005.

My very first motorcycle. Just a newbie rider when I got her, definitely a
her. She is a 2000 Honda Shadow Ace 750, red and black are the original
colors. We have been together since July of 2001. My daughter calls her my
"alter ego." Guess that means she is super!

This is the first one, a picture of one of the women that frequent the North Dakota Ladies Run on her first motorcycle. Can you guess who it is? Email Cindy with your answer.

My very first motorcycle. I didn't even know how to RIDE the *#@% thing
when I bought it.

This picture was taken in 1992.

1981 Sportster. Originally the bike was red but shortly after purchasing it
I changed it to what has now become my signature color, pearl white.
And this is the original tank off that bike, still in use
