Tami, from Bismarck, is interested in sharing information about road conditions in some areas of North Dakota.  She feels it would be beneficial to those planning on attending the NDLR to know about some of the trouble-spots one might encounter this year due to the increase in the oil field traffic.

The first question Tami asked:

I asked our 2010 ND Ladies Run hostess, Phyllis Nordeng of Watford City , ND this question: “what highway is it up in that area that has been the center of so much controversy because of all the oil field traffic?”

and this is her reply:

Hwy 23 from Watford City to Parshall, Hwy 8 to Stanley, and Hwy 85 from Belfield to Williston

so everyone, if you are up in that area for ANY reason; keep these locations in mind and be cautious; be aware and be careful, we want you to arrive and to be ready for fun during the ND Ladies Run weekend!

Here are some other notes that were sent to Tami about roads:

Thanks for the heads up. The oilfield traffic we have here is out of this world.  Sometimes takes more than 5 minutes in the morning to get onto the highway from our place and highway 47 running north of town is worse yet. They've had 2 or 3 traffic accidents with fatalities at an intersection north of us.

Looking forward to seeing you again this year. Love Glo

The new 4-lane U.S. Highway 2 is much nicer now, but there's a LOT of semi traffic around Stanley.  Watch for semi's and loose gravel at the Highway 8 turnoff.  Also, the eastbound lane of U.S. 2 around White Earth has continuous "waves" of bumps.
o potholes, just a thumpy ride.

Another highway with many oil trucks is Hwy 68 (Watford City to Sidney)

The Archives Page was constructed with the help of Tami Henninger, from Bismarck.   At her suggestion, we have added many other pages such as, the In Memory Page, the Women owned Business Page, the Her Story Page, to name a few.  Tami has provided a wealth of information for most of the pages found here, not to mention her uncanny ability to proof Cindy's writing and find the miserable spelling errors.  A Big Thanks goes out to Tami.   If you would like to see something added to these pages, please contact Tami or Cindy. And please stop by Tami's personal web site to check out some of the great stuff she has posted.  TQOFE

Three of us arrived in Lemmon after 40 days of being on the road.  We have completed the Four Corners Tour and attended the 69th Annual Motor Maids Convention.  You can read about our travels at
